Maintenance Technician – Grade 1

Job Overview:

As a Maintenance Technician, you will perform general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and buildings. You will help maintain and repair our manufacturing equipment and assist with special projects. Your tasks will include maintaining the grounds, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work, and machinery repairs.

Your main goal is to keep the facilities, common areas, and machinery in good condition. Successful maintenance technicians pay attention to detail, have good manual skills, and can solve problems effectively.

  • Shift: 2nd Shift (may have different hours based on facility needs)
  • Training: Must be able to train on 1st shift for 2 weeks or until training is complete (Mon-Thursday 6 am- 3 pm, Fridays 6 am -Noon)
  • Hours: 3:00 PM - 2:00 AM
  • Occasional Weekends
  • Pay: $26.25 per hour

Facilities Maintenance:

  • Inspect the building, HVAC systems, electrical equipment, grounds, and machinery. Test systems to identify problems and report them to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as mowing, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
  • Help track maintenance items and tools through regular inventory checks.
  • Record material usage, enter labor hours, and manage work orders in the maintenance system.
  • Complete other tasks as requested by management.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Conduct preventive maintenance on facilities and equipment. This includes disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and adjustments.
  • Disassemble machinery to remove parts for repairs.
  • Inspect parts for damage and clean the equipment and area.
  • Reassemble the equipment after inspections or repairs.

Machine Maintenance Duties:

  • Fix machine problems, like adjusting photo eyes, ensuring the machine runs on time, and replacing parts as needed.
  • Show machine operators how to use the equipment and take care of it properly.
  • Follow safety programs, like Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and meet safety standards and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of operating, repairing, and maintaining facilities, equipment, and machinery.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends.
  • Familiarity with safety programs and compliance standards.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; an HVAC or building maintenance certificate is a plus.
  • Physical ability to walk, lift (up to 50 lbs), kneel, reach, and perform other tasks.
  • Skill in using a tape measure accurately to 1/16 inch.
  • At least one year of experience with automated manufacturing equipment or facilities maintenance, with education accepted in lieu of experience.
  • The ability to communicate in English and Spanish is a plus.
