An established industry player seeks an Industrial Luggage Designer to lead innovative design projects from concept through to production. In this dynamic role, you will utilize advanced tools to create stunning 2D and 3D visualizations while ensuring that each product meets high standards of craftsmanship and functionality. Carl Friedrik is a leading luxury brand specialising in premium luggage, bags and accessories. As an Industrial Luggage Designer, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end design projects, from initial concept through to final factory sample.
With expertise in Fusion 360, Keyshot, and Procreate, you will develop high-quality 2D and 3D visualisations, ensuring each product meets the brand’s rigorous standards. A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and moulding is essential, as is experience collaborating with suppliers to optimise designs for production. Prior experience in luggage design is highly advantageous.
Proven experience in developing products for manufacturing at scale is essential. A strong technical knowledge of production processes, including injection moulding, vacuum forming, and other advanced manufacturing techniques is required. An understanding of tooling, material properties, and production constraints is required to ensure that designs are not only aesthetically refined but also optimised for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing. Experience in collaborating with factories, engineers, and suppliers to refine prototypes, resolve technical challenges, and transition designs from concept to full-scale production is crucial.
This role requires a meticulous approach to product development, balancing aesthetic refinement with technical feasibility. You will work closely with the Head of Design to enhance Carl Friedrik’s product offering while maintaining the brand’s signature craftsmanship and quality.
Key responsibilities
Manage the full design process from brief to final factory sample, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to brand standards.
Utilise Fusion 360, Keyshot, and Procreate to create precise technical drawings, 3D models, and high-quality renderings.
Develop functional and durable luggage and accessories that align with Carl Friedrik’s luxury design principles.
Work in close collaboration with the Head of Design to refine concepts and maintain brand consistency.
Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure designs are optimized for tooling, moulding, and production efficiency.
Conduct material research, prototype testing, and product validation to maintain exceptional quality standards.
Analyze industry trends and advancements to incorporate innovative materials and design techniques.
Your profile
Relevant degree-level or equivalent qualifications in product/industrial design.
6+ years of industry experience in product design function with luggage specific being a bonus.
A clear understanding of design for manufacturing.
Enthusiastic about the creation of new products.
Strong design presentation skills.
Strong technical understanding of materials and fabrication techniques used within consumer and industrial product manufacturing.
Commercially aware of brands in the sector.
Detail and results-oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of creating and maintaining technical specifications.
Software: solid proficiency in Adobe creative suite.
Detailed experience using 2D&3D software.
