Job description

Our Industrial Services team are actively recruiting Industrial Cleaners starting ASAP.


This can be a varied role, and duties can vary from day to day which can include cleaning, industrial cleaning, hot work sentry and confined space work.


Job Details:

Start Date: ASAP, based on security clearance and site requirements


Rates: £12.21 Monday to Friday, £13.43 Saturday, £14.65 Sunday


Duration: Ongoing


Working hours: Various shifts ranging from 0600/0730 to 1700/1800 with a backshift from (Apply online only) including weekends, arranged weekly.


Location: Portsmouth


Duties can include but are not limited to:
  1. Monitor ongoing hot work operations such as welding, burning, grinding, and gouging.
  2. Protect ship fittings and equipment before commencing work.
  3. Keep hot work materials cool by dampening metal work or extinguishing any fires that occur.
  4. Raise the alarm promptly in case of fire or any other incident, following established protocol.
  5. Remove all combustible items from both the hot work side and the return side.
  6. Keep the work area clean and tidy.
  7. Protect equipment and fittings that cannot be removed using fire blankets.
  8. Inspect adjacent compartments for paint, lagging, and other flammable materials.
  9. Perform cleaning duties as required and where necessary.

With this role you will have to undergo the following:

  1. Drug and alcohol testing as part of induction.
  2. BPSS clearance for dockyard - This includes identity verification, employment history review, and a criminal record check.
