INCOMING QUALITY CONTROL LAB LEADER

Location: Somerset (travel to our head office in Coventry required until Somerset office is open)

Type: Full-time

What you'll do:

Your role as an IQC Lab Leader will be to oversee all quality activities during the supplier incoming material so that the material received meets the product technical specifications and all Agratas and customer-specific requirements. You will interrelate between the supplier quality team and the manufacturing team, leading the problem resolution process effectively in the IQC area.

As part of your duties, you will regularly participate in groups to improve the product and the manufacturing process from the introduction of a new product to the end of its life cycle. Additionally, you will interact with other Agratas manufacturing facilities worldwide, sharing knowledge and establishing good practices.

Reporting to the Head of Plant Quality, you will:

  1. Manage all activities within the Incoming Quality Control (IQC) Laboratories.
  2. Identify and recommend best testing equipment contributing to the design of the labs based on requirements (e.g., BET, TGA, LECO, PSD, tapped and true density, etc.).
  3. Implement thorough control plans and test procedures for products and materials during the incoming material process.
  4. Have experience in chemical and mechanical testing of raw materials and components in the battery industry.

Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We design, develop, and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries for the mobility and energy sectors. We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company. Our UK business headquarters is in the Midlands, and we are currently building a battery manufacturing facility in Bridgwater, Somerset. Our first customers are Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Motors.

The team you'll join:

The Plant Quality function oversees operations quality, ensuring product compliance throughout the manufacturing process to the customer, as well as adherence to company and customer standards and requirements.

What you'll bring:

  1. Strongly preferred prior experience in a laboratory environment.
  2. Preferably a PhD or Master in Material Science or Chemical/Mechanical Engineering.
  3. Knowledgeable in Electrochemistry.
  4. Preferable experience in managing shifts.
  5. Experience leading and coordinating teams.
  6. Experience troubleshooting analytical instruments/equipment.
