NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a In House Commercial Lawyer to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.

We are now looking for an In House Commercial Lawyer with experience in procurement law to join the team and help shape our long-term procurement strategies.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of procurement law to advise on the form of procurements that will help design the procurement processes of the future and ensure NHS Supply Chain’s position as a world-class procurement organisation tackling the dual opportunities that the Procurement Act and Provider Selection Regime offer the NHS.

Every day you will …

• Advise on the form of contracts and associated contract management
• Provide advice and support on the development of legal aspects of IT and indirect procurement strategy
• Provide general legal support
• Work with our external legal advisers to ensure that the NHS Supply Chain receives the most appropriate legal support
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations in line with the SCCL Board’s level of risk appetite, providing legal input into standards on processes and controls.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

• 3+ years post qualification experience in commercial contracts/IT law or equivalent
• Knowledge of public procurement law is desirable but not essential
• A pragmatic approach to problem solving and an ability to engage with and involve a wide range of stakeholders and seniority across the whole of the supply chain.
• A willingness to manage a case load without significant supervision and to respond to the demands of a fast moving organisation.
