Import/Export Manager

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Import/Export Manager to oversee and manage our international shipping operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, supply chain management, and sales, with the ability to negotiate effectively and manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth flow of goods across borders while adhering to all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

1. Manage and coordinate all import and export activities, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations.
2. Negotiate contracts and rates with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL providers to optimise shipping costs.
3. Oversee the preparation of shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs declarations.
4. Utilise EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) systems for efficient data entry and communication with partners.
5. Collaborate closely with sales teams to support lead generation efforts by providing accurate shipping information.
6. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate logistics to ensure timely delivery of products.
7. Implement software solutions to enhance operational efficiency within the supply chain.
8. Maintain accurate records of shipments and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during transit.

Experience

1. Proven experience in import/export operations or logistics management is essential.
2. Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful contract management.
3. Familiarity with EDI systems and data entry processes is highly desirable.
4. Experience working with supply chain software such as AS400 or similar platforms is a plus.
5. A solid understanding of international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
6. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with internal teams and external partners.
