Immigration Paralegal

Our Firm is based in North Finchley, London, and we specialise in immigration and asylum.

We are looking for an ambitious paralegal and/or case worker with OISC Qualification 1 or above and/or willing to study for the qualification during their time with us. The right candidate will either have done some work experience in Immigration law or possess Law qualifications. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to start off as a paralegal to kick-start their legal career with a lot of support from qualified and highly experienced Solicitors.

Salary: £20,000 - £23,000 depending on experience

Candidates with some work experience in Immigration/Law degree may apply for the Paralegal position.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To deal with enquiries from new clients, managing a large caseload of enquiries and converting initial enquiries for Solicitors to consider further.
2. Gather and collate initial information from prospective clients, providing information and advice on immigration and asylum law, and answering enquiries from clients and dealing with telephone and video enquiries where appropriate.
3. To undertake casework and manage a caseload up to a level of OISC competence or law society accreditation.
4. Provide clients with information relating to progress on their existing cases and advice on the appropriate law, policies, and procedures (where appropriate), ensuring details of advice given are documented on attendance notes.
5. Prepare documentation, including letters and other correspondence in relation to clients’ cases.
6. Provide casework and administrative support to our staff, taking initial instructions from new clients, drafting statements and other documents for entry clearance/Home Office applications and for court hearings, and preparing to instruct medical and country experts, assisting with advising clients under supervision.

Essential Criteria:

• Degree level education with a legal background, through legal practice, similar paralegal jobs, or studies, or equivalent, or LLB or law-related degree, or OISC Qualification equivalent to level 1, 2, or 3.
• Ability to formulate detailed legal representations.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and achieve targets.
• Ability to work on own initiative and prioritize own work.
• An understanding and sensitivity to other cultures and a commitment to Equal Opportunities.

• Strong ethical standards, fantastic team spirit, and a humble, passionate approach to the work carried out.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £20,000.00 - £23,000.00 per year
