POSITION OBJECTIVES
The role of the ICT Systems Administrator is to support the work of the ICT Manager and all members of the Client relating to Information and Communications Technology. The ICT Systems Administrator will assist on a variety of projects relating to ICT strategy, technology, information and data services, databases, network infrastructure, maintenance, and future developments.
With a strong focus on System and Network Administration, a key component of day-to-day operations is to support the key software applications and infrastructure and Help Desk operations. The ability to confidently communicate, collaborate and appropriately prioritize support, maintenance and improvement works are fundamental to this role.
System Monitoring and Operations Performance
- Working with the ICT Manager in designing and implementing network and infrastructure solutions
- Diagnosing and resolving issues related to equipment, infrastructure and networks.
- Maintaining best practices and policies to ensure effective provision of all infrastructure, data, email, communication, firewall, security and storage systems
- Effectively configure, manage, test and maintain data backups and recovery
- Ensure patches and upgrades are applied and kept up to date
- Provide technical leadership, support and mentoring to the ITS team members
- Switching and Wireless administration
- Configure and Manage Firewall and Filtering solutions and rules
- Assist in the management of Active Directory Services
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support
- Configure and manage servers, both physical and virtual
- Assist with Level 1 Help Desk support where required
- Work closely with vendors associated with your key responsibilities
- Play a key role in the support of significant learning and school management systems, specifically SEQTA and Synergetic.
- Monitor daily Help Desk tickets and ensure all required file and system data are successfully backed up as appropriate.
- Maintain and improve Service Desk
- Manage, monitor and update support tickets
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues documenting fixes in Helpdesk.
- Maintain and further develop documentation on all systems and procedures both via Help Desk or WIKI.
- Responsibilities may, on occasions, require working out of hours via negotiation and where possible advance notice.
- Maintain absolute trust, confidentiality and data privacy in the event of access to sensitive data information in this role.
System upgrade and renewal
- Assist the ICT Team to plan and implement infrastructure replacements
- Assist the ICT Team to plan and implement mobile computing replacements.
- Audit all ICT mobile assets bi-annually and report any issues.
- Improve existing infrastructure by actively reporting known issues.
- Improve existing help desk software ticketing system in conjunction with the Help Desk Support Staff.
- Improve password management, monitoring and reporting processes in conjunction with the Help Desk Support Staff.
- Perform other duties as requested by the ICT Manager.
