About this opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join our fantastic ICT Service, where you will oversee the operations of the Council’s information and cyber security solutions and establish an enterprise security stance through policy, architecture, and training processes. You will bring the organisation’s electronic information and cyber security risks under explicit management control and provide robust information and cyber security “Challenge” to systems and procedures.

Through collaborative approaches you will ensure that information and cyber security is appropriately robust whilst maintaining the best possible end-user experience.

Furthermore, you will support the organisation’s Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) and Deputy SIROs in making appropriate policy and operational recommendations and reporting on potential and actual technical security breaches.

In this role you will be responsible for managing our ICT & Cyber Security Team alongside managing multiple complex information and cyber security projects and priorities, organising and co-ordinating cyber security work of staff and managers across various teams to deliver the information and cyber security initiatives.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for candidates who have demonstrable continual professional development in the field of information and cyber security through proactive engagement with the wider information security community and experience operating within a performance management framework and managing areas operating within a risk management framework.

Furthermore, to fulfil the role, the successful candidate will have the ability to assess potential change initiatives and contribute to solutions that are risk appropriate and develop solutions that place a balanced emphasis on the end user experience and Information Security assurances.

A degree level (BA Hons) or demonstrable equivalent experience is essential, and the successful candidate must have completed formal Information Security and Cyber Security training. Knowledge of relevant information and cyber security protocols and standards is also important.
