Discipline: Hygienic TIG Welder

Location:Across the UK

Start Date: 10.02.2025

Duration:Up to 6 months

Hours:10 hours per day Monday to Friday - possible weekend work

PAYE Rates :

Weekday rates: £25.00 per hour (Inc holiday pay)

Weekend rate: £30.00 per hour (Inc holiday pay)

Lodge Allowance: £60 per day worked

Position Overview:
Our client is looking for a skilled and experienced TIG 141 Pipe Welder to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality TIG welding on hygienic food process pipework and equipment, ensuring precision, durability, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pipe Welding:
    • Utilise TIG welding techniques to weld stainless steel and other materials used in hygienic food process piping systems.
    • Perform welds according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding procedures to ensure proper fit, alignment, and integrity.
    • Maintain strict adherence to hygienic welding practices to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  2. Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct visual inspections of welds to verify quality, consistency, and adherence to specifications.
    • Use non-destructive testing methods, such as dye penetrant or radiographic testing, to identify and address any defects or imperfections.
    • Document welding activities and inspection results accurately to maintain traceability and compliance with quality assurance protocols.
  3. Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
    • Adhere to relevant industry standards and regulations, including ASME BPE and FDA guidelines, to maintain hygienic conditions and prevent food contamination.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Coordinate with project managers, pipefitters, and other team members to plan and execute welding projects efficiently and effectively.
    • Communicate any issues, concerns, or deviations from welding procedures to supervisors and stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a TIG 141 Pipe Welder, preferably in the food processing industry or a related field.
  • Expertise in TIG welding techniques, with a focus on welding thin-wall stainless steel tubing (typically 1/16" to 1/8" thickness).
  • Familiarity with hygienic welding practices, including purging, back-purging, and passivation, to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds that meet or exceed industry standards.
