Job description

The Federation of Cherry Oak School, Victoria School and Victoria College

Required for June 2025; 36.5 hours per week, all year round

Thank you for your interest in this post.

We are seeking an experienced HR professional to join our central federated team who can provide cohesive, efficient and effective HR support, advice and guidance across the full range of HR activities.

The role requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to blend warmth and support for colleagues at all stages in their employee journey alongside delivering a high quality, business-focused HR service which enables the Federation to meet its core HR responsibilities and strategic HR objectives.

The Federation consists of three educational SEN settings: Cherry Oak School is a Primary Special School for pupils with cognition and communication difficulties who have a diverse range of specialist learning needs. Victoria School caters for pupils aged from 2 – 19 years. All of our pupils have a physical disability and a variety of learning difficulties, sensory impairments and complex medical needs. Victoria College is a 19-25 provision for students with significant complex needs including a combination of physical, sensory, learning and medical difficulties.

As this is a federated post, applicants should be aware that some travel between sites is necessary; own transport is preferable but not essential.

Informal visits are encouraged. Please contact Pauline McKenna (Director of Support Services) on telephone number 0121 477 0274 to arrange a suitable time/date.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). Therefore, the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.

How to apply:

Application packs can be requested by email at recruitment@victoria.bham.sch.uk, or downloaded from our federation’s websites: Victoria School, Cherry Oak School and Victoria College.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to necessary pre-employment checks, including: an enhanced DBS; Prohibition check (where applicable); Childcare Disqualification (where applicable); qualifications (where applicable); medical fitness; identity and right to work. All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references. An online search will also be carried out on all shortlisted candidates.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. This means that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account.
