Job Description:

This role requires a Full UK driving licence with regular travel to branches in and around the South West.

What will you do?

To provide agreed HSE improvement activity support to the Head of HSE to deliver the business’ HSE Annual Operating Plan.

Some accountabilities of the role:

  1. Within the context of the business’ HSE plan and using a ‘Task and Finish’ mentality, identify and eventually design continual improvement programmes with the Head of HSE making sure they are well thought through and have the buy-in of the various stakeholder groups.
  2. Improvement programmes will be driven by Three Business Unit specific needs based on inherent risk profile, incident experience and organisation learning from across the group and other industry sectors; to include but not limited to:
    1. Workplace transport & MHE
    2. Product storage and handling
    3. Out-of-branch activities Including Load Security & Driver Safety
  3. Take an active role in the business’ colleague focused / led HSE forums and support them in agreeing to complete HSE related projects.
  4. Provide support to the Distribution Centre management team, as appropriate, to ensure that they are driving the continual improvement of HSE culture and performance on site.
  5. Provide hands-on support to the business to implement the agreed HSE improvement programmes and support the business leaders in understanding the status of implementation by providing oversight of the measures of success / deliverables.
  6. Provide proactive hands on support to BU leaders where branches are identified as being “higher risk”. Demonstrating visible support at branches and supporting leaders to develop and execute action plans to deliver Safety Excellence.
  7. Provide hands-on support to BU leaders where branches are identified to show poor safety performance being careful not to over the step mark and do the job for them.
  8. Review the various HSE Data streams for your BU areas. eg incidents, assurance reviews to determine quality insights that you can use to help support the Head of HSE and Business Unit leaders reduce risk and improve safety.
  9. Support the resolution of branch / Regional specific complex HSE problems when escalated by the lead HSE Advisor / Group Head of Environment as necessary.
  10. Support the relevant business leader in achieving the BU’s standards for Incident Review Boards and provide subject matter / technical support during Incident Review Boards ensuring learnings and business wide actions are recorded and shared with the Head of HSE / HSE Director for wider consideration.
