The below job description outlines the position of Naval Architect.

This person will be involved in the design and production of drawings for new constructions and vessel repairs.

Duties and responsibilities of the Naval Architect:

1. Assess project requirements and research the feasibility of new technologies.
2. Collaborate with New Construction Teams both onshore and onsite to support project needs.
3. Engage in the tender process for client and construction awards, contributing to project budgets, timelines, and specifications.
4. Produce detailed drawings using AutoCAD and other software as requested by clients.
5. Maintain relationships with Design partner organizations.
6. Review, input, and develop test procedures, including computer modeling and scale models.
7. Interpret and analyze data and test results.
8. Work with the Supply Chain Manager, Head of Special Projects, and Technical Managers on equipment selection and system implementation.
9. Identify solutions for technical and operational challenges, particularly in relation to vessel repairs.
10. Write reports and documentation as required by projects and the management system.
11. Give presentations to support operational, technical, and commercial needs.
12. Undertake research related to the adoption of new technology, alternative fuels, and decarbonization strategy.
13. Collaborate with the Special Projects function and Environmental SMEs.
14. Provide technical advice and answer client queries.
15. Ensure adherence to relevant health and safety legislation and standards.

Qualifications and requirements for the Naval Architect:

1. Degree in a relevant subject, e.g., Naval Architecture.
2. Membership of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).
3. Relevant experience in shipyards or design offices.
