Our client, a leading organisation in the law enforcement industry, is seeking a talented and motivated People Officer to join their team. As a People Officer, you will report directly to the People Operations Manager and play a vital role in delivering end-to-end people services for the organisation.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team to provide payroll services, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions and correct payment to staff.
- Identify areas for improvement in payroll processes and services, making suggestions to enhance efficiency.
- Assist the Pay and Reward Manager with pension activities, ensuring compliance with employer responsibilities.
- Keep up to date with legislative changes related to employees and provide support to managers in meetings with pension account managers.
- Manage employee relations cases, including level 1 investigations and note-taking in meetings.
- Monitor and manage reward and recognition schemes, overseeing payment processes and implementing pay awards for permanent and agency staff.
- Support the Talent Acquisition team in conducting onboarding activities for new hires, including issuing contractual information.
- Assist with other transactional activities related to finance, payroll, reward, and onboarding.
- Contribute to improving services and transitioning to a new HR Information System (HRIS).
- Share responsibility for the People and Culture mailbox, responding to queries and providing professional advice.
- Collaborate with colleagues on wider project work, attending meetings and taking minutes.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as part of a generalist HR team, providing level 1 advice and guidance to line managers and staff.
- Experience in pay, pension, and reward advisory roles, supporting the delivery of specialist services.
- Strong minute-taking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple inquiries and respond to them in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to address customer queries and resolve issues professionally.
- Attention to detail, particularly in relation to sensitive data, as well as strong planning and record-keeping abilities.
- Familiarity with Civil Service Recruitment Principles (desirable).
- CIPD associate membership (desirable).
