I have an exciting opportunity available with a client of mine who is a leading automotive component manufacturer looking for an experienced HR Manager to join them. This position will be responsible for leading the HR function, managing the full employee lifecycle, ensuring payroll accuracy, supporting employee relations and management teams, driving HR initiatives in recruitment, learning and development, and engagement, ensuring compliance with employment law, and contributing to strategic workforce planning and organisational development.

Job Description

  1. Report to the Finance Director and lead the HR function, supporting approximately 140 FTE.
  2. Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and departures.
  3. Ensure compliance with employment law, manage HR casework, and provide advice on complex employee relations issues.
  4. Maintain payroll accuracy, ensuring correct calculations for variable payments and adherence to company policies.
  5. Develop and implement HR initiatives, including learning and development, employee engagement, and succession planning.
  6. Manage HR systems, occupational health processes, apprentice programmes, Works Council meetings, and internal communications.

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  1. Level 5 or higher CIPD qualification
  2. Previous experience within manufacturing/engineering SME environments
  3. Excellent employment law knowledge
  4. Previous experience of mapping and delivering redundancy programmes and change management activity
  5. High levels of commercial acumen
  6. Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels but confident to challenge when necessary
  7. Ability to manage multiple changing priorities
  8. Experienced in dealing with employee relations issues to include disciplinary, grievance and investigations
  9. Payroll experience particularly with hourly paid payroll elements
