Job description

The Department

Together, the Departments have 97 academic staff, >125 contract research staff and just over 90 Professional Services staff.

The Role

The successful applicant will join a small, busy team of HR Administrators who provide full support (both in person and via email) for all HR functions in both Departments. You will work closely with the HR Manager to provide a professional and efficient HR service including all aspects of HR administration. This includes providing clear and accurate advice on all HR policy and employment-related issues, co-ordinating the recruitment process and coordinating the new starters (including dealing with all immigration and pre-employment paperwork) and conducting the HR induction process for new staff.

About You

You will have previous HR administration experience and will have worked in a customer focussed HR environment (preferably in a Higher Education setting). You will have a good knowledge of employment law and principles of HR best practice. Excellent administrative and organisational skills and the ability to produce work to a high level of accuracy are essential.

You will be educated to 'A' level standard or equivalent, have recent experience of maintaining office systems and office procedures and possess good IT skills in packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook. A keen attention to detail and confidence and tact in dealing with people at all levels is essential, as is the ability to deliver a high level of customer service. The ability to work under pressure, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment is also essential in this role.
