This opportunity is for a HR Consultant to join our Schools' Choice team in Ipswich. You will work closely with the team to ensure successful operation of service delivery. You will be provided with full training and guidance.

Main Purpose of the Job:

  • To provide excellent HR support and advice to schools and academies.
  • To maintain and enhance excellent customer relationships.
  • To provide support to colleagues within the HR team.
  • To work on HR related projects.
  • To develop HR policies and associated documentation.
  • To identify areas for service improvement and share appropriately.
  • To design, develop and deliver HR related training sessions.

Key Objectives:

  • Manage own complex caseload and deliver high quality advice to all customers, which is clear, compliant, consistent and adds value, providing the employer with options and risk analysis as appropriate.
  • Provide advice and guidance relating to Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance and safer recruitment practices.
  • Provide advice and guidance on formal procedures through to dismissal with minimal supervision.
  • Provide clear advice to customers in writing, over the phone and, if required at formal meetings on the customer’s premises or virtually.
  • Act as named HR contact for allocation of around 30 individual Schools each with their individual governance and leadership in place.
  • Arrange HR strategic meetings on an annual or termly basis (as required) or if a new customer or re-allocation of existing customer.
  • Support CEOs of Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) and Single Academy Trusts with their HR strategic plans in the short and medium term.
  • Signpost customers to supporting documents and other available resources.
  • Liaise with trade union representatives on cases/projects to promote best practice employee relations.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, time logs and casework information.
  • Conduct data analysis / research / investigation into issues in order to establish appropriate solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Prepare and review HR advice and guidance on employment law, policies and procedures to be shared with customers via newsletters, FAQs on specialist knowledge and topic’s dependent on changes.
  • Ensure delivery of excellent customer service consistently in line with our service level agreement.
  • Support colleagues in the HR Consultancy Team and the wider Schools’ Choice team by sharing expertise and knowledge through collaborative working. Constantly seek to identify opportunities to improve service delivery through driving change to systems, processes and procedures and supporting the development of new products and services.
  • Design and deliver training on key employment matters within subject specialist area.
  • Identify, scope, test and implement new business opportunities to enhance services to schools.
  • Identify own learning and development as part of business planning and service development.
  • Undertaking investigations as required depending capacity.
  • Provide advice and guidance on TUPE Conversions.

Person Specification:

Education and Qualifications -

  • Associate CIPD Level with desire to work towards CIPD Chartered Member Level.
  • Demonstrate that you keep up to date with employment law and legislation and undertake regular CPD.

Contractual benefits:

  • 25 Days annual leave FTE plus bank holidays, increasing to 26 days FTE after a year of service.

  • Monday to Friday.
  • Weekend availability.

Experience:

  • Human resources: 1 year (preferred).

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred).
