Talent Consultant (L3) – HR Business Partner – 12 Month Fixed term contract/ secondment, full-time role
Location: London, Reading, Bristol, Birmingham or Leeds
Hybrid working, plus once a month in London if not London based

Role purpose and accountabilities
The Service Line (SL) Talent Consultant is a trusted advisor to the business and supports the Strategic Talent Consultant (STC) and Strategic Talent Leader (STL) in partnering a Service Line across UK&I and UK FS, ensuring the best people solutions are delivered to meet the strategic imperatives of the business and provide commercial people-related advice and guidance to leadership and management. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our people strategies are not only aligned with our business objectives but are also effectively implemented to enhance our organisational performance and culture.

Key responsibilities

  1. Talent Strategy
    • Support the Service Line Senior Talent Consultant (SL STC) in providing a strategic partnering service to UKI service lines.
    • Contribute to the development of the Assurance Talent Strategy, ensuring alignment with the overarching Business Strategy.
    • Assist in the implementation of the Assurance Talent strategy across Service Lines (SLs), focusing on key areas such as talent management, leadership development, managing change, performance management, and organisational design.
    • Facilitate the creation of strategic talent plans annually, collaborating with SLs at the beginning of each Financial/Planning year to outline their Talent requirements, including projects and initiatives.
    • Support the firm’s commitment to being an inclusive employer by valuing diversity and difference.
  2. Strategic/Business Partnering
    • Act as a trusted advisor by building and maintaining influential relationships with business leaders and managers, co-developing solutions to meet business needs, influencing thinking, and embedding change when necessary.
    • Partner with stakeholders alongside the SL STC to deliver the broader Talent strategy, with a focus on talent management, leadership development, managing change, performance management, and organisational design.
    • Evaluate stakeholder requests and initiatives before determining an appropriate response, challenging the business to ensure the most suitable course of action is taken.
    • Anticipate issues and needs within the SL, addressing these proactively to provide a premier client service to management.
    • Drive cyclical talent processes like performance management, year-end performance evaluation, and pay planning with rigor.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse engagement strategy actions derived from listening tools results, such as People Pulse and Culture Survey, and plan appropriate interventions.
    • Lead with data insights, generating ideas and solutions for potential and emerging issues within the SL.
    • Offer insight on People issues and present a strong viewpoint on business decisions and their impact upon people.
  3. Relationship management
    • Support the SL STC with developing and maintaining strong relationships across the SL Partner group.
    • Partner with SL senior leadership team and Senior Managers, Associate Partners and Managers.
    • Experience of analysing data and providing insights to Talent colleagues and the business.
    • Team closely with HR Operations Centre of Excellence (HR Ops COE) to deliver on daily requirements and ad hoc projects and initiatives.
    • Work in partnership with colleagues in Talent to shape and deliver a positive employee experience.
  4. Skills
    • Proven strong Employee Relations experience of complex disciplinary, grievance and performance management activities.
    • Current knowledge of Diversity and Inclusiveness practices and thought leadership.
    • Experience of making a contribution to business decision making, strategic planning discussions and operational planning events.
    • Proven ability to influence at all levels in the organisation, preferably in a professional services environment.
    • Resilient, practical and a self-starter; comfortable with working on own and in teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Demonstrates ability to coach and advise Partners/Directors/Senior Managers.
    • Possesses leading edge knowledge of contemporary HR practices.
    • Proven Analytic skills with the ability to interpret data and provide insights.
    • Experience of Project Management and relevant tools desirable.
  5. Experiences
    • Requires an experienced HR Manager with a proven track record of working in a complex matrix environment.
    • Professionally qualified. A post graduate qualification in a Business or Human Resource discipline is desirable.
    • Occasional travel will be required.
