As an HR Advisor, it's all about supporting managers and employees with high-quality HR advice while helping to create a workplace that's inclusive, engaging, effective, and safe. The goal? To build a strong culture, support employees, and ensure smooth handling of performance, absence, and employee relations cases.

HR Advisor Responsibilities

  1. Ensuring fair and consistent HR processes—from hiring and onboarding to training, payroll, and well-being.
  2. Providing guidance and support to employees, managers, and candidates.
  3. Attending management meetings to provide insights on workforce trends and challenges.
  4. Using data to track and improve staff performance, engagement, and retention.
  5. Supporting managers with disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance issues, encouraging early resolution.
  6. Providing advice on employment terms, policies, and contracts.
  7. Guiding managers through employee investigations, including disciplinary and grievance cases.
  8. Ensuring all advice follows legal and company policies.
  9. Maintaining accurate records and reports for effective tracking.
  10. Fostering good relationships with trade unions and employee representatives.
  11. Providing training on HR policies, leadership, and staff development.
  12. Encouraging managers to recognize good performance and address issues early.
  13. Promoting best practices in people management while challenging poor behavior.
  14. Participating in HR projects, policy development, and job evaluation panels.
  15. Working collaboratively with teams across the organisation.

This role isn't just about policies—it's about making the workplace better for everyone by supporting people, solving problems, and driving a positive culture.

Key Requirements

  1. HR Experience: Minimum 1-2 years in an HR role, with a focus on ER case management.
  2. Sector Experience: NHS or public sector HR experience preferred.
  3. Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices in a unionised environment.
  4. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  5. Ability to work independently while collaborating with wider HR teams.
  6. Experience in competency-based interviews, EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion), and HR compliance.

Benefits

  1. Flexibility: Hybrid working with occasional HQ visits.
  2. Competitive salary within NHS pay scales.
  3. Mileage reimbursement & parking for travel to HQ.
  4. Strong support system within the HR team and leadership.
  5. NHS card discount scheme.
  6. Potential for permanent placement after contract completion.
