Job description

Support Officer

Location: Godalming

Contract Type: Temporary contract (3-6 months)

We are looking to recruit a Support Officer who will carry out the following responsibilities:

  1. Assist housing officers in preventing homelessness and supporting clients experiencing domestic abuse.
  2. Help clients find and move into suitable, affordable housing.
  3. Create and update housing plans based on client needs.
  4. Support clients in applying for supported housing and guide them through the process.
  5. Provide follow-up support to help clients maintain their tenancy.
  6. Ensure eligible clients are registered on the housing register.
  7. Help clients access benefits, set up utilities, and manage rent payments.
  8. Offer basic financial advice and signpost to specialist services if needed.
  9. Monitor clients' well-being and encourage them to seek support when necessary.
  10. Refer safeguarding concerns to the appropriate agencies.
  11. Conduct home visits to check on clients and identify any issues.
  12. Keep accurate records of client interactions and progress.
  13. Track and report on caseload statistics.

On average, the Support Officer will be expected to carry out approximately 2-3 home visits per week.

The job role will be 50% admin based, 30% client interaction, and 20% stats reporting.
