Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Provide housing advice and assistance to customers in line with current legislation and council policy, ensuring a professional, sensitive, and confidential service.
  2. Assist in meeting the council’s obligations under the prevention and relief duties of the act to prevent homelessness through effective partnership working, negotiation, and providing accurate advice and assistance.
  3. Undertake reasonable duties, including assisting clients with applications to the Housing Register, Rent Deposit Scheme, referrals, and Medical Assessment forms, as well as addressing housing queries.
  4. Serve as a support officer to caseworkers when individuals approach the service for housing assistance.
  5. Act as a triage officer, providing housing advice and scheduling homeless appointments for Housing Options Officers.
  6. Regularly review applicants' personalised housing plans (PHP) and assist them in finding alternative accommodation.
  7. Maintain awareness of legislation, case law, government guidance, and professional best practices related to parts VI & VII of the Housing Act 1996 as amended by HRA 2017.
