Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Caseworker to join our busy, frontline service. Our team works tirelessly to support households who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. With the backing of various teams within our service, you'll have the resources to provide the best options for our customers.

Community Engagement: Participate in in-person surgeries at Customer Access Points in our Libraries and provide face-to-face appointments.

Initial Contract: This position is initially offered on a 1-year fixed-term contract, with potential for extension based on funding opportunities.

Key Responsibilities: As a Housing Officer, you will address a wide range of issues, including but not limited to:

  1. Assessing duties under the Housing Act 1996.
  2. Making decisions in line with the housing legislation.
  3. Advising on tenants' rights and occupation.
  4. Assisting with benefit eligibility and claims.
  5. Managing rent or mortgage arrears and providing advice.
  6. Providing debt management support and advice.
  7. Supporting individuals at risk of violence or abuse.
  8. Securing accommodation in the private rented sector.
  9. For customers owed a duty under homeless legislation, you will assess their needs and create Personal Housing Plans to address their situations.
