Housekeeper Job Description

Marcilly Recruitment’s client, a young UHNWI family, are seeking a professional and discreet Housekeeper to work as part of a team in their house in Belgravia. This is a live-out role working 5 days a week.

Salary: £40K-£55K

Hours: rota system to cover early (7am-4pm), Day (9am-6pm), and late (11am-8pm)

Start date: ideally ASAP, but happy to wait a notice for the right person

Location: Chelsea

Strong attention to detail and previous experience of working in an UHNW household is a must. This is a fairly easy role working as part of a lovely, longstanding team where someone can easily stay for 15+ years. The household is fairly relaxed/semi-formal, but they require a housekeeper that can quickly adapt to the different demands of the principal and their fluctuating schedule at the last minute. Good English and communication skills are a must.

The client is seeking a housekeeper who is a good team player, down to earth, and happy to muck in across the household – no task is too big or too small! They must also be able to take direction from the Head Housekeeper. They do not want any egos who will upset the friendly dynamic of the team.

Housekeeper Responsibilities:

  • Keeping house clean and tidy throughout the day – all wood and marble floors with rugs throughout. Carpet cleaning machine onsite.
  • Being mindful of all the finishes and care required.
  • General laundry and ironing including daily changing of beds and towels plus specialist laundry care.
  • Clothing care – washing, ironing, and steaming plus organizing clothes, shoes, etc. to dry cleaners, cobblers, etc.
  • Must have prior experience of luxury wardrobe management.
  • Maintain upkeep of furniture, art, china, collectibles, crystal, and silver polishing.
  • Keep constant supply of household essentials (water, coffee, etc.) and cleaning materials.
  • Prepare for arrival of visitors and various needs when staying.
  • Assistance with luggage, packing, and unpacking for travel.
  • Shopping and ad hoc errands as required.
  • Deep clean when principal is not in residence.
  • Cleaning up after the dogs.
  • Tidying around the house.

The house consists of six bedrooms, three reception rooms, a cinema room, gym, swimming pool, and sauna. There is one Head Housekeeper, three additional housekeepers (inclusive of this role), a driver, chef, and security. The Head Housekeeper has been with the family for 25 years and one of the other housekeepers for 11 years. They are now creating a fourth housekeeper to share the workload. The Private PA is also based from the residence.

The successful housekeeper must have a minimum of five years' experience in a housekeeping role, working with UHNWs in a private household, with additional experience in luxury hotels or superyachts an added bonus.

They UHNWI is searching for a candidate with longevity in all previous roles; you will be required to provide written and verbal references for all previous positions.
