The role of Hospitality Supervisor for the Whitehall estate offers an exciting opportunity to manage high-profile hospitality services across key government buildings.

You’ll oversee everything from sandwich lunches and teas to high-end canapés, buffet spreads, and wine receptions, ensuring that each event is executed to the highest standard.

This is an end-to-end management role, where you will be responsible for both planning and delivering exceptional service in a unique and sometimes challenging set of buildings, including quirky spaces with features like spiral staircases.

Job Description

In this high-profile role, you'll be working with dynamic teams that vary in size depending on the building, and you’ll need to be adaptable, with the ability to respond to short-notice requests.

Whether it's a high-profile meeting involving the Prime Minister, Cobra, or world leaders, or managing a last-minute weekend event, your ability to design menus, lead the team, and deliver with agility will be essential.

Weekend work will be a part of the role, so flexibility is key.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage and provide direction, guidance, and support to staff to ensure efficient and effective delivery of all catering services.
  2. Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards comply with company and statutory regulations.
  3. Build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other company employees, clients, and external contacts.
  4. Achieve objectives through effective planning, allocation, and monitoring of work for set teams.
  5. Oversee recruitment, training, and development of staff.
  6. Manage staff compliance with relevant policies and procedures related to food safety, operations, HR, recruitment, attendance, and disciplinary actions.
  7. Create and maintain a healthy, safe, and secure environment in compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
  8. Effectively manage people and financial resources to maximise contract profitability through efficient control procedures.
  9. Produce accurate and timely reports and information as required by the client or company.
  10. Promote and develop company services, keeping the line manager informed of potential growth, development, and business opportunities.
  11. Maintain operations and exceed quality standards, creating conditions for productivity improvements.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  1. Experience in hospitality management.
  2. Dealing with high-profile guests.
  3. Background in hotel or contract catering.
