Horticulturist for a plant nursery

Do you enjoy working outside in nature and helping people find the right plants for their projects? We are looking for part-time or full-time people who enjoy providing excellent customer service and sharing their knowledge of the horticulture world at the same time.

We design and build outdoor living spaces that enhance people's well-being and we achieve this by sharing our plant knowledge with our customers in our nursery. Our beautiful 3-acre nursery is located on the westshore amongst the tall trees of Metchosin.

Your day will consist of carrying out plant maintenance tasks such as watering, potting, pruning, building displays that speak for your creativity, weeding, and fertilizing as well as delivering fantastic customer service.

You should have a good working knowledge and identification of plants that are in our region, be physically fit with good stamina, and be able to work outdoors in any conditions. You possess the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own...but most of all you have a sense of humor and like to come to work and have fun!

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work in our other divisions as well, whether it's maintenance or landscaping - No 2 days will be the same.

You will possess strong horticulture knowledge and have post-secondary education in horticulture or the equivalent working knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Ensure plants are in proper health through water management, pruning, IPM, and fertilization so our guests have the most healthy plants in their garden.
• Be adept at advising our guests on the perfect plant for their garden situation.
• Keep meticulous inventory using our computerized inventory system.
• Provide outstanding customer service to our guests.

Qualifications

• Must have red seal certification or equivalent in professional horticulture.

Compensation: $25 - $28 hourly
