The opportunity:

Strong, friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic Horticultural Sales Advisor wanted to work in our South East and West London Garden Stores. Strong working knowledge of Indoor plants and how to care for them alongside good visual merchandising skills is a prerequisite for this role.

Must be well presented, outgoing and friendly, able to quickly build a good rapport with customers and have a great passion for horticulture. A relevant horticulture qualification and previous experience in a retail garden centre would be an advantage.

Training and support will be given in order to develop or acquire the knowledge to assist our extensive and varied customer base.

Working hours will include weekends and Bank Holidays as required.

You will be based at either our Nunhead, Camberwell or Elephant Park Garden Centre, and may be called upon to work in our other stores.

Responsibilities:

1. Customer service and sales - engaging customers proactively and promoting the highest standards of customer care and service
2. Advising customers on plant choice and care and with general queries
3. Creating and maintaining attractive plant and homeware displays as directed by the Visual Merchandiser
4. A good working knowledge of Houseplants and their care requirements is a prerequisite for this role
5. Assist in maintaining a high level of creative visual merchandising throughout the store
6. Receiving and processing weekly deliveries of pots, compost and plants
7. Keeping the shop clean & tidy
8. Ensuring the retail space is presentable and safe for customers
9. Stock management including watering and care of plants
10. Any other ad hoc duties as requested by the management

You will work quickly, decisively and always with clear goals in mind.

You will be organised, self-motivated and responsible, taking ownership of your projects. You will enjoy collaborating with others.

Experience, Skills and Traits Required:

1. Strong indoor plant knowledge
2. Possess a good knowledge of plant pests and the appropriate remedies
3. Be confident, friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic
4. Prior experience in plant-based businesses
5. You will be passionate about delivering exceptional levels of customer service
6. You will be obsessively organised, tidy and have an eye for detail
7. You will be flexible in your approach and open to trying new things
8. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills
9. You will be honest, open and operate with integrity
10. You’ll get excited about learning new things and sharing your knowledge with others
11. You will have a love of plants and all things related to gardening
