We are seeking a new Honorary Treasurer to work within the Printing Historical Society's management committee, helping to oversee our finances, keep us on track to meet our objects, and provide guidance as we adapt to the continuous changes in the financial landscape.
The management committee currently meets twice a year, as well as attending the annual general meeting in July. The Society submits its return to the Charities Commission in October and the Hon. Treasurer is responsible for securing the committee's approval for this submission.
The Hon. Treasurer works closely with the membership secretary to oversee income from subscriptions and with the Journal Editor and the chair of the Publications sub-committee to establish the budget for the annual Journal and for other occasional publications. The Hon Treasurer also works with the Grants and Prizes subcommittee to establish its annual budget. Finally, the Hon Treasurer works with the National Printing Heritage Committee to manage the funds it has available in support of its aims including the Virtual Museum of Printing.
Our spiritual home is St Bride Printing Library in Fleet St, London. But following the pandemic, meetings are either hybrid in-person and online or entirely online. There is no need to be able to travel.
Our preferred candidate will have a background in accountancy and an interest in the subjects we support including printing, typography, lettering, graphic design, book design and production, papermaking, and the commercial activities around them.
