Job description

Belmont Recruitment are seeking a Homelessness Prevention Officer to join Liverpool City Council on an initial 3-6 month temporary contract. This role is to provide proactive, client-focused support to individuals and families at risk of homelessness.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct detailed homelessness assessments and develop personalised housing plans.
  2. Apply the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to determine homelessness status and provide statutory support.
  3. Work with landlords, internal teams, and external agencies to secure sustainable housing solutions.
  4. Ensure legal compliance through accurate case management, decision-making, and safeguarding vulnerable clients.
  5. Participate in outreach, emergency response, and flexible working arrangements to support service users effectively.

About You:
  1. Experience in homelessness prevention, housing law, or social work.
  2. Strong knowledge of housing legislation, case law, and local authority duties.
  3. Excellent negotiation, communication, and case management skills.
  4. Ability to work under pressure, manage a complex caseload, and deliver high-quality customer service.
