Job description

Aspire People, a leading education recruitment agency, is excited to recruit dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join a specialist through school in Shrewsbury. This school supports pupils aged 5 to 16 with social, emotional, and mental health needs, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment.


As an HLTA, you will:

  1. Deliver high-quality support to students, working closely with teachers to implement engaging and effective learning strategies.
  2. Lead small group sessions and assist in whole-class teaching, adapting activities to meet diverse needs.
  3. Support students during outdoor activities and promote their physical and social engagement.
  4. Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to enhance their learning experiences.
  5. Foster positive relationships with students, helping them develop their social and emotional skills.

What We're Looking For:

  1. Experience working with children or young adults in an educational setting, preferably with those who have special educational needs.
  2. A genuine passion for supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  4. A proactive and flexible approach to teaching, with a willingness to lead activities both in the classroom and outdoors.
  5. Relevant qualifications (e.g., HLTA status or equivalent) are essential.
