JOB OPPORTUNITY:
For September 2025, we have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional practitioner to join us as a History Teacher and KS5 Leader of History on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be an enthusiastic, dynamic, and passionate practitioner with a proven track record of delivering exceptional outcomes for A-Level students. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for driving curriculum excellence especially as Leader of History at KS5, promoting high standards of teaching and learning, and supporting students in achieving their full potential.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding professional who is able to demonstrate high standards for teaching and learning so that students of all abilities are enthused, challenged, and motivated to succeed. They will join a vibrant and forward-thinking team, dedicated to raising aspirations and improving outcomes for our students.

At Key Stage 3, History is a highly valued subject, where students demonstrate high levels of engagement with over half of the Y9 cohort going on to choose History at GCSE. At GCSE, 92% of students achieved a Grade 5 or higher and 49% achieved Grade 7-9. At KS5, we teach both History A Level and Government and Politics A level with an excellent uptake for both subjects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AS A TEACHER AND LEADER OF HISTORY:

  1. To provide outstanding learning and teaching in History, with a specific focus on Key Stage 5 as a leader.
  2. Curriculum planning, student progress tracking, and ensuring outstanding learning and teaching at A-level, preparing students for academic success and future pathways through robust tracking and responsive interventions.
  3. Raise expectations, standards and student achievement as a leader at KS5.
  4. Use performance data to evaluate student achievement outcomes and identify areas for improvement in History with particular focus on KS5.
  5. Contribute to the development of the vision for the Department by promoting and contributing to the ethos of the school, promoting and supporting all school policies and ensuring compliance amongst students.
  6. Motivate and work with others to create a culture and ethos of challenge and support where all students can achieve success and become engaged in their learning.
  7. Be a role model of exemplary practice for colleagues within the department and beyond.

We are looking for someone who has:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  2. Good academics across the board.
  3. Excellent subject knowledge and expertise in teaching History.
  4. Experience of teaching History across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5.
  5. Strong understanding of the latest teaching and learning strategies to support and motivate students of varying abilities.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
