Job Description:

A school in Finchley is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher to join their vibrant Humanities department. If you are dedicated to helping students explore the past to better understand the present and shape the future, we’d love to hear from you. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as History Teacher:

1. Deliver engaging, challenging lessons across Key Stages 3/4/5, covering topics such as British history, world history, and thematic studies.
2. Inspire students to develop critical thinking, analytical writing, and independent research skills.
3. Prepare students for GCSE and/or A-Level exams, following [Insert Exam Board – e.g., Edexcel, AQA].
4. Use a range of teaching strategies and historical sources to make the subject come alive.
5. Contribute to the wider Humanities curriculum and extracurricular opportunities (e.g., historical trips, debate clubs, school exhibitions).

Ideal History Teacher:

1. Hold QTS and a relevant degree in History or a closely related subject.
2. Have a deep passion for the subject and strong knowledge of historical content and pedagogy.
3. Be able to engage students of all abilities and backgrounds with inclusive, high-quality teaching.
4. Use feedback and assessment to support student progress effectively as a History Teacher.
5. Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to department planning and improvement.
