The highway infrastructure asset is the most valuable single asset owned by the Council and is vital to local economic prosperity and residents' quality of life.
The Highway Assets team is responsible for effective management of the Borough’s highway infrastructure assets including 900km of carriageway, approximately 30,000 streetlights and in excess of 400 structures.
We’re innovative, not afraid to try something new and are always looking for ways to maximise resources and evolve the way we deliver services for the future, to make a difference to the local community. For example, did you know we were one of the first local authorities to replace all of our streetlights with LEDs?
What’s it like to work for us?Highways Asset Engineering at the Council is uniquely rewarding, offering a hands-on approach that allows you to oversee a project from initial design and planning all the way through to the construction and completion stages. This will include progressing the feasibility, design, procurement and project management of highways projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time and within budget.
You will play a vital role in implementing and delivering on the Council’s Highway Infrastructure Asset Management Policy and Strategy, with a focus on streetlighting assets, traffic signals, pay and display machines and vehicle activated signs/speed indicator devices across the Borough.
We pride ourselves on our professional approach, building excellent relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, such as contractors, utility companies, emergency services, and our residents and visitors.
In this role, travel is limited to within the Stockton-on-Tees borough, and we offer flexibility around working arrangements, including homeworking to support your work-life balance.
When not on-site or homeworking, you will be working in our brand-new modern office in central Stockton overlooking the River Tees, with excellent facilities including a Café and spaces for both collaborative and individual working.
