Job description

Our client with over 50 years of experience in the transport and haulage industry is looking for an HGV Technician to join their team in their workshop in Leeds. They provide comprehensive HGV and trailer services, including rental, sales, repairs, and MOTs, all under one roof. Their expert team of mechanics and technicians is equipped to handle everything from routine maintenance to major repairs, ensuring your vehicles remain in optimal condition.

The candidate must have experience in a similar position.

Responsibilities
  • Conducting maintenance, servicing, and repairs on HGVs and trailers to a high standard.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out necessary repairs efficiently.
  • Completing inspections and MOT preparations in compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and accurately within set timeframes.
  • Working collaboratively with the workshop team to maintain a high standard of service.
Minimum Requirements
  • Proven experience - Previous experience as an HGV or trailer technician/mechanic.
  • Technical knowledge - Strong understanding of HGV and trailer mechanics, hydraulics, electrics, and diagnostics.
  • MOT preparation experience - Familiarity with DVSA standards and ability to prepare vehicles for MOT testing.
  • Fault diagnosis skills - Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
  • Attention to detail - Ability to complete work to a high standard, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Commutable distance to the depot based in Leeds.
Salary & Benefits
  • 40 hour working week (8:00-16:30 with a ½ hour lunch break).
  • Overtime readily available paid at time and a half.
  • 28 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays.
