MAJOR OBJECTIVES:

The main objectives of the Shop Mechanic position are to carry out designated tasks as assigned by the Shop Manager and active Maintenance/Repair Orders. The Shop Mechanic will report directly to the Shop Manager and support each department within the company by providing timely scheduling of repairs, and the timely preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment within the company. Duties would include truck, equipment, and small engine repair, routine equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance checks/repairs, and fabricating skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Truck and heavy equipment repair/maintenance and preventative maintenance.
  2. Job specific equipment repair/maintenance and preventative maintenance.
  3. Fabricating and welding jobs as necessary.
  4. Ability to take direction and carry out assigned tasks to completion. (Document Everything)
  5. Perform advanced diagnostics on vehicles and equipment as required.
REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  1. The ability to take and respond to directives issued by the Shop Manager and active Maintenance/Repair Orders.
  2. Ability to identify problems and work in conjunction with others to implement effective solutions.
  3. Independent judgment – targeted towards the development of creative solutions and the ability to solve spontaneous problems and/or issues that may arise.
  4. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. (Neat handwriting)
  5. Can work effectively under pressure.
  6. WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS A COMBINATION OF A FEW OF THE SKILLS LISTED, NOT ALL OF THEM. WE WILL ALSO CONSIDER NEWLY GRADUATED OR LIMITED EXPERIENCE AS LONG AS YOU ARE EAGER TO LEARN.
PREREQUISITES:
  1. Two (2) to five (5) years of truck and heavy equipment repairs.
  2. Provide your own tools.
  3. Ability to pass DOT and pre-employment drug screening.
  4. Ability to work flexible hours and possible Saturdays or Sundays.
  5. Class (A) CDL – With Air-Brake Endorsement is HELPFUL.
  6. Fabricating and Welding Skills also HELPFUL.
