Job Summary

ABL Health delivers the Sandwells Adult Weight Management Service, which is commissioned by the Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. This transformative service seeks to work collaboratively with communities to support transforming services for the local population. The service provides integrated behaviour support for weight management in partnership with Sandwells smoking cessation service. Both services are embedded in sustainable behaviour change and positive wellbeing.


Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering client-centred motivational change. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, health improvement, adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player with a willingness to learn and develop.

Job responsibilities:

You will deliver our existing programmes of weight management as well as support the development of programmes that meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and delivering client-centred motivational change. You will have a background in nutrition, exercise, health improvement, adult and/or family weight management and be an excellent team player with a willingness to learn and develop. At ABL Health, we don’t believe in diets but promote long-term sustainable change, focusing on evidence-based healthy living principles.


Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  1. Educated to degree level or relevant equivalent experience.
  2. CIMSPA (previously REPS) qualified Level 2 Gym instructor/Group exercise award or equivalent.
  3. Registration with CIMSPA (this can be obtained within 6 months of employment).
  4. Experience of delivering health promotion / public health interventions in community settings.

Desirable
  1. Degree in nutrition and/or eligible to be registered as an associate or full member of the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists or degree in exercise, psychology, public health, health improvement, or another health-related field.

Experience

Essential
  1. Experience of working with Adults or Children and Young People and facilitating 1:1 and group workshops in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
  2. Experience of delivering groups and/or one-to-one behaviour change.
  3. Experience working with hard-to-reach groups and tackling health inequalities.
  4. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Previous paid or voluntary experience working with people.
  6. Experience of building professional relationships.

Desirable
  1. Experience of delivering groups and/or one-to-one specialist weight management interventions to children, young people, and adults.
  2. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  3. Experience of planning and delivering appropriate health interventions specific to individual requirements.
  4. Experience of delivering health/weight interventions to children and young people.
