Job Summary

ABL Health are proud to power the Healthy Lifestyle service in Gloucestershire, commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council. This transformative service seeks to work collaboratively with communities to transform the lives of the local population. The service will support residents to help them lose weight, stop smoking, reduce alcohol consumption, get more active and improve their wellbeing - all embedded in sustainable behaviour change. The service will also deliver the 1001 days programme supporting families and young children and the Healthy Workplace award scheme.

Main duties of the job

We're looking for a passionate and proactive individual to join ABL Health's Healthy Lifestyles service. In this role, you'll deliver personalised one-to-one support both in the community and remotely via Zoom, Teams, or phone. You'll educate clients on nutrition, physical activity, and behaviour change, using a client-centred approach rooted in motivational interviewing and positive psychology. Regular travel across the county, including the Forest of Dean, is required to meet service needs. You'll track client progress, support programme development, contribute to social media and reporting, and engage with stakeholders and the wider community. Job Description

Job responsibilities

You will be crucial in delivering our programmes of work to the local community - including weight management, smoking cessation and other wellbeing schemes. You will work with this community to develop services that meet their needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering client-centred motivational change and supporting people living with long term conditions to take up healthy lifestyles. You will have a background in working within health promotion, nutrition, exercise, health improvement, adult and/or family weight management, smoking cessation or similar and be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Deliver ABL Health's Healthy Lifestyles service, through one-to-ones, in the community, and through digital methods such as Zoom/Teams or phone appointments.
2. Deliver evidence-based education around nutrition, physical activity and behavioural change as advised by ABL Health team and in line with ABL Health programme curriculums.
3. Regularly travel across the county, including the Forest of Dean, to deliver the service to areas of need.
4. Deliver programmes with a client-centred approach using skills of positive psychology and motivational interviewing.
5. Support with delivery of 1001 day or workplace programme as required.
6. Monitor client's progress through regular consultation and with the use of Microsoft Excel, identifying specific treatments for those not on track to achieve their goals.
7. Work with clients and stakeholders to co-produce in-session materials.
8. Contribute to the contract performance report by submitting regular case studies to the project lead.
9. Contribute to and support ABL Health's social media pages.
10. Contribute to training and support new staff and volunteers.
11. Working with individuals and groups using SMART goal-setting.
12. Keep detailed files, recording data accurately, ensuring all forms and other documentation is completed correctly.
13. Have a thorough understanding of ABL Health policies and procedures.
14. Engage and recruit potential clients at promotional and community events.
15. Contribute to ongoing service development needs.
16. To attend and actively participate in team and wider company meetings, such as MDT.
17. Be able to organise own workload in order of priority and deadline dates, daily administration tasks and other work-related activities.
18. To demonstrate personal and professional development in line with the ethos of lifelong learning.
19. To work within the framework of clinical governance to maintain and improve patient care, quality and efficiency.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

• Experience of delivering groups and/or one-to-one behaviour change.
• Experience of delivering health promotion / public health interventions in community settings.
• Experience working with hard to reach groups and tackling health inequalities.
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Previous paid or voluntary experience working with people.
• Experience of building professional relationships.

Qualifications

Essential

• Registration with CIMSPA (this can be obtained within 6 months of employment).

Desirable

• Educated to degree level or relevant equivalent experience.
• Coaching qualification.
• Degree in nutrition and/or eligible to be registered as an associate or full member of the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists/ or degree OR in exercise, psychology, public health, health improvement or other health related field.
