Job description

Are you interested in a career in healthcare at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust?

This is an exciting opportunity as we are recruiting Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) Apprentices.

We have several vacancies for HCSW Apprenticeships. Don’t worry if you haven’t worked in a hospital before; we offer comprehensive training through our apprenticeship programme.

Whether you're fresh from school/college or have experience in care, now is the time to join London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

Due to the nature of the work and working patterns, we encourage applicants over the age of 18 to apply.

If you have the right attitude that align with our values, we can train you for the role and onto our apprenticeship career pathway with an opportunity to eventually pursue nursing.

Please note, under current apprenticeship rules, we cannot accept applicants requiring sponsorship.

As an apprentice, you will attend classes and work alongside dedicated colleagues, caring for our patients. Your role will involve assisting patients with personal care such as washing, dressing, feeding, and supporting registered nurses in patient care.

Please take your time to read the attached job description to fully understand this role.

As patient care is required 24 hours a day, you will be expected to work a combination of long days, weekends, and 12-hour night shifts. This is a full-time position with a contracted workweek of 37.5 hours or 150 hours over a 4-week rota.

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) cares for the people of Brent, Ealing, Harrow and beyond.

Our team of more than 8,200 clinical and support staff serve a diverse population of almost one million people.

We Run Major Acute Services At:

  1. Northwick Park Hospital: home to one of the busiest emergency departments (A&E) in the country. The hospital provides a full range of services including the country’s top-rated hyper-acute stroke unit and one of only three hyper-acute rehabilitation units in the UK.
  2. St Mark’s Hospital: an internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease.
  3. Ealing Hospital: a busy district general hospital providing a range of clinical services, as well as 24/7 emergency department and urgent care centre, and specialist care at Meadow House Hospice.
  4. Central Middlesex Hospital: our planned care site, hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services and collocated with an urgent care centre.

We are a university teaching NHS trust, in recognition of the important role we play in training clinicians of the future and bringing the benefits of research to the public.
