Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Risley, a category C prison located in the Risley area of Warrington.

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. HMP Risley has an operational capacity of around 1100 inmates, and is a 20 minute drive from Warrington, and 30 minutes from Wigan.

Hours: This is a full time role, working an average of 37.5 hours per week, between 20:30 - 07:30. We can offer flexible shifts of either 7 nights on, 7 nights off, or 7 nights worked over a 2 week period, for example 4 on, 3 off, 3 on 4 off.

Salary: This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary of £24,669 - £28,690 per annum - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients, and deliver outstanding care at all times
  • Work across all areas of care, including inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion, bloods etc
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Work holistically with your patients and other healthcare staff, including nurses, nursing associates, pharmacy etc
  • Deliver personalised, non-judgemental care, based on patient feedback
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

Qualifications
  • Hold a NVQ Level 2 / 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Have experience within a healthcare setting - hospital, community or secure setting
  • Any experience in primary care or inpatients would be a bonus!
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
