We are looking for a dedicated and patient-orientated Health Care Assistant (HCA) who wants to be part of the journey to redefine healthcare services of the future.

skindoc is a leading provider of online dermatology services in the UK and a part of the Dr.Dropin group. Due to successes online, skindoc has decided to open a face-to-face clinic in Fulham, London, alongside Dr.Dropin.

Launched in 2021 by two London-based Dermatologists, skindoc set out on a mission to deliver dermatology services characterised by exceptional availability, uncompromising quality, and affordability. In 2022, we joined forces with Dr.Dropin, recognised as one of Scandinavia’s fastest-growing health start-ups. skindoc addresses the issues of limited accessibility to dermatology services and extensive wait times within the NHS by pioneering UK leading digi-physical hybrid services.

skindoc is one of the select few CQC-approved online dermatology services and with the goal of building the leading medical dermatology service in the UK, we are investing heavily in both digital and physical care services.

We are looking for an ambitious and dynamic HCA to join our team at the brand-new Fulham clinic. You will play a pivotal role in assisting Consultant Dermatologists with a wide range of day-to-day tasks, contributing to the seamless and efficient operation of our clinic.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Medical support
  2. Provide chaperone services as required, ensuring patient comfort and privacy.
  3. Assist doctors with skin procedures, minor surgeries, and biopsies, ensuring meticulous tracking of biopsy samples.
  4. Deliver wound care and contribute to collaborative care planning.
  5. Perform phlebotomy and accurately record observations such as height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse.
  6. Conduct ECG recordings (desirable).
  7. Assist with vaccinations.

Clinic support

  1. Ensure the clinic environment is clean, tidy, and adheres to infection control policies, including bin management and maintaining stock levels (pharmaceutical and general supplies).
  2. Manage liquid nitrogen storage, including decanting between dewars and Cryo Guns.
  3. Ensure all clinic rooms are opened, set up, and closed down properly, including equipment, air conditioning, printers, and computers.
  4. Coordinate with delivery and courier services, including laboratory liaison.
  5. Maintain patient packs and manage clinic stocks through regular stock-taking and ordering.
  6. Provide administrative support and cover reception when needed, including uploading, scanning, tracking, logging sensitive information, and maintaining secure document storage and disposal protocols.

Compliance and confidentiality

  1. Assist in clinic governance, including audits and ensuring confidentiality and safe handling of sensitive information.
  2. Support doctors with the secure storage, transfer, and disposal of patient data, including document scanning and uploading.
  3. Conduct clinic audits as required to ensure policy adherence.

Patient support

  1. Handle patient queries, either in-person, telephone, or by e-mail, in a professional and courteous manner.
  2. Ensure patients visiting the clinic are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner.

Additional duties

  1. Provide cover on the skindoc platform when required and during any absences.
  2. Assist with setting up refreshments for dermatologists.
  3. Act as an executive assistant as needed to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Who we are looking for:

  1. Possess a healthcare qualification or an equivalent level of education, with previous experience working in a GP or hospital outpatient department environment.
  2. Theatre experience / assisting with surgical procedures (essential).
  3. Hold a valid phlebotomy certification (essential).
  4. Excellent communicator both spoken and written, with ability to relay clinical information clearly.
  5. Empathetic and enjoys interacting with people; personable, polite and patient at all times.
  6. An understanding of confidentiality and sensitive when dealing with confidential issues.
  7. Able to work autonomously, with ability to use common sense and own judgment with situations which do not fit the norm.
  8. Possess basic IT skills to fulfil job requirements.
  9. Effective time management and organisational skills.
  10. Thrives in dynamic environments and adaptable to changing priorities - no two days will be the same!

Key points:

  1. We would need you to start ASAP.
  2. The role would commence as part-time, supporting the days when dermatology is on site.
  3. As the service grows, our requirements would grow and so would the need for an HCA – being flexible to increase commitment is important to us.
  4. Full time salary would be £27,000 per year with pension contributions.
  5. Incrementally increasing salary with both performance and inflation.
  6. Six-month probation period.
