We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Lancaster Farms, a Category C male prison located on the outskirts of Lancaster. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience within the primary care service.

Hours: This is a part-time role, 30 hours per week, with shifts falling between the following times:
07:30-19:30 Monday to Thursday
07:30-18:00 Friday
08:00-17:30 Saturday, Sunday, Bank Holidays

Salary: This position is part-time, you'll receive an annual salary of between £24,669 - £28,690 (FTE equivalent) - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing:

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Working within the primary care team, you will work with Nurses and Nursing Associates across the service
  • Assist with clinical observations, vaccination clinics, etc.
  • Provide outstanding quality-based care to all patients
  • Deliver personalised, non-judgmental care, based on patient feedback
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing, and clinics
  • Support the nursing and pharmacy teams onsite
  • Support the mental health and substance misuse teams as necessary
  • Assist with release and discharge when needed

  • Hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent - a Level 3 would be a bonus!

  • Ideally have experience within primary care
