Job description

Maternity cover, fixed term.

Ensure that as many people as possible across the Edinburgh City region, and beyond, can benefit from dance to support their health, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

Reporting to the Artistic Director, you’ll manage programmes which address specific neurological health conditions and mental wellbeing and ensure that dance can be better accessed by excluded groups in society.

You’ll support Scottish-based dance artists to develop the specialist skills needed to deliver this work, and you’ll build on Dance Base’s strong record in this sector alongside our partners.

More specifically, you will:

  1. Support Scotland’s aim to put wellbeing on a par with GDP as a way of measuring the country’s success, building understanding of the benefits dance can have on physical and mental health among those responsible for Public Health, and maintain partnerships in Edinburgh and across Scotland and the wider UK to deliver projects.
  2. Ensure that dance artists across Edinburgh and Scotland can deliver activity that supports health and wellbeing in various contexts, supporting networking, exchange and professional development opportunities.
  3. Help to identify funding and partnership opportunities for projects including with relevant stakeholders.
  4. Be expected to represent Dance Base and advocate for Scotland’s dance sector at relevant events.

This role is offered on a fixed term contract as Maternity Cover based on:

  1. Salary: £28,900 pro rata, with access to occupational pension scheme.
  2. Contract period: 10 months, Fixed Term.
  3. Hours: 35 hours per week (5 days) excluding lunchbreaks. Some evening and weekend working will be required.
