JMC Aviation is working with an MRO company based in Manchester, looking to recruit a new Health & Safety Officer to join their team.

This client is a leading MRO dealing with base maintenance as well as interior modifications, fuel systems repair and maintenance for both commercial and military aircraft. The company has been operating for close to 30 years, providing outstanding customer service and encouraging a warm, positive environment to aid employee progression.

This is a Permanent Position based in Manchester, UK.

Monday to Friday, working 40 hours per week.

The Role

The primary purpose of this role is to support and advise on Health & Safety at all of the UK locations.

Other duties involve

  • Monitoring standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health & Safety are adhered to
  • Ensuring a safe workplace environment without risk to health
  • Working with HSE Managers to ensure the company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting
  • Working with HSE Managers to complete regular reviews of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations
  • Supporting with ensuring that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented
  • Supporting with ensuring that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities
  • Assisting in the development of Health & Safety policies, systems of work and procedures
  • Ensuring full and accurate Health & Safety and training records are maintained
  • Keeping up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety and welfare at work legislations and communicating relevant changes to the business
  • Participating in monthly meetings when required to report on relevant Health & Safety matters

In order to be successful in this role the Health & Safety Officer will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes

  • First Aid at Work certificate
  • NEBOSH General certificate or IEMA Foundation certificate in Environmental Management (or working towards)
  • Handling of H&S investigations
  • Knowledge and experience of using 5S methodology
  • Experience in gathering, analysing and reporting on key H&S data/statistics
  • Right to live and work in the UK
