Health Safety & Environmental Officer

ABP is one of Europe's leading privately owned food processors. The group operates across many businesses, spanning Ireland, the UK and Continental Europe and consists of 4 separate divisions: ABP Beef, ABP Proteins, ABP Renewables, and ABP Pet Foods. We are currently recruiting for Operatives to work in our Abattoir at Kingswinford.

Previous experience working in an abattoir would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be given.

The Role: Reporting to the HS&E Manager you will be responsible for assisting in the management of the site HSE systems, working proactively with both employees and management to establish and maintain safe and environmentally sustainable systems of work across all areas of the site. Hours of work are 7:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday with some flexibility to suit the needs of the business.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain the Health & Safety Management System.
• Ensure compliance with current legislation, industry standards, and company procedures.
• Conduct daily site inspections of all departments to proactively ensure compliance and establish a healthy cultural attitude towards health, safety, and environmental related issues throughout the workforce.
• Assist in investigations of all accidents/incidents that occur and collate all information, complete, and action outcomes from accident investigations.
• Collate, input, review, action, and supply feedback on near misses.
• Assist with all audits, internal and external.
• Update matrices in relation to audit reports.
• Review and update risk assessments with departments to ensure that all areas of the factory are assessed and accurate.
• Assist departments in writing and implementing new safe working procedures.
• Assess all new equipment.
• Help and coordinate any emergency situations.
• Perform general administration duties.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Assist in the daily maintenance of the Environmental Management System.
• Assist in the collation of water and energy meters usage, review, and report findings.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Positive attitude towards Health and Safety and Environment.
• Experience in Health and Safety matters.
• Confident Microsoft Office user.
