Job description

Astute's Power team is partnering with a global EPC contractor, to recruit an HSE Manager for an industrial waste water treatment project in North London.
The HSE Manager role offers the opportunity to lead all health, safety, and environmental activities on–site, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities and duties of the HSE Manager role

Reporting to the Project Director, you will:

  • Lead all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities across the project, ensuring compliance with CDM2015 and the clients integrated management system.
  • Develop and maintain the Construction Phase Plan and Environmental Management Plan throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure adherence to the client's Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Standards, updating action plans as necessary.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and investigations to drive a zero–incident safety culture.
  • Deliver health, safety, and environmental training to site teams.
  • Oversee compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management and pollution control.
  • Provide technical advice to the project team and liaise with stakeholders to ensure best practices are followed.
Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • BSc/NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • 8–10 years of experience in HSE, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within a high–risk environment (water, petrochemical, or power industries preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation, including RIDDOR and environmental compliance.
Personal skills

The HSE Manager role would suit someone who is:

  • Proactive and strategic in their approach to HSE management.
  • Collaborative, with strong leadership and communication skills.
  • IT–savvy, with the ability to analyse and report on HSE performance metrics.
