Job description

About The Role

Step into an exciting new opportunity with enfinium as part of the Kelvin management team, joining us at a critical moment as we see through the last months of construction and move towards full operation of this ground breaking Energy from Waste (EfW) facility.

You'll be playing a pivotal role, gaining the rare chance to not only be part of the site's journey from commissioning to full operation, but also shaping the future workforce.

Kelvin, located in Sandwell, West Midlands, is set to transform waste management. Approved in 2019 and acquired from Verus Energy in 2021, this facility will divert 395,000 tonnes of non-recyclable household and business waste from landfills or overseas export. Instead, it will convert residual waste into 44MW (gross) of renewable energy annually—enough to power over 95,000 UK homes.

As our Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring the wellbeing of the team and the environment, while fostering a positive health and safety culture. You’ll be in charge of embedding behavioural safety practices and liaising with key stakeholders such as local councils and environmental agencies.

Here’s a closer look at what you’ll be doing:

  • Manage compliance of the Environmental Management System, including conducting internal and external audits, and developing policies and procedures.
  • Inspire and influence the team to adopt strong Health & Safety practices, ensuring everyone understands the benefits.
  • Oversee environmental monitoring and reporting programs, ensuring all regulatory and environmental permit requirements are met.
  • Prepare regular Health, Safety, and Environmental (ESG) reports, monitoring KPIs and ensuring targets are achieved.
  • Drive Health and Safety reporting and investigations, ensuring effective risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with permit application specifications, including landscape and biodiversity management plans.
  • Support the site management team with Safe System of Work (SSOW) and Permit to Work (PTW) systems for safety across the facility.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent in an Environmental or Health and Safety-related field, or substantial experience in a regulatory or supervisory role. (desirable)
  • A strong personal commitment to Quality, Health, and Safety, with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Exceptional team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of developing practical solutions to complex challenges.
  • A positive force in the workplace, fostering morale and cultural sensitivity.
  • Upholds integrity and expects the same from the team.

This is your chance to make a real impact on a state-of-the-art facility and be part of a team that’s shaping the future of energy.
