Qualifications

  • Proven experience in health and safety roles, ideally in waste management or recycling.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and safety standards.

Health & Safety Advisor

Salary: Grade 8


Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday


Location: Gloucester EFW, GL10 3ET


As a Health & Safety Advisor at FCC Environment, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy workplace. You will provide expert advice to managers and supervisors, helping the company comply with statutory obligations and fostering a strong safety culture.


This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.


What will you be doing?

  1. Advising managers and supervisors on all safety, health, and welfare matters.
  2. Ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation.
  3. Conducting health and safety inspections/audits and preparing reports.
  4. Investigating all accidents, incidents, hazards, and near-miss events.
  5. Developing and delivering Health & Safety training for employees.
  6. Monitoring and supporting managers to maintain a strong health and safety culture.
  7. Liaising with external regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Fire Service, and Police.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Health & Safety professional with:

  1. NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health (or equivalent)
  2. Membership of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety & Health)
  3. Strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  4. Experience in a similar role (waste management, recycling, collections, or quarry industries is a plus)
  5. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  6. Full UK driving licence
