Health Improvement Assistant – Waiting Well

Fixed term to 31 October 2025 with a view to extend

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated, proactive, and efficient individual to join Healthworks to work as part of the Health Improvement team.

About Us

Healthworks is a national award-winning charity working with disadvantaged local communities to tackle health inequalities and improve their health and wellbeing through social prescribing. Based in Newcastle, but working across the region for over 29 years, our patron is Professor Michael Marmot. Our work has been recognised by a King’s Fund/GSK award for our work improving the physical and mental health of people across the North East of England.

We work in partnership with NHS and Local Authority colleagues and communities in many sectors to devise cost effective solutions that secure sustainable health impacts for many conditions that inhibit quality of life.

The Role

You will:

1. Work as part of a team providing guidance and support to individuals regarding their health and well-being whilst they wait for an operation.
2. Conduct telephone-based triage assessments to understand individuals’ health and well-being needs.
3. Assign individuals to the appropriate Healthworks team members for tailored support on lifestyle, diet, physical activity, mental wellbeing, sleep hygiene, and hydration.
