Ward B8 is a 25 bedded male and female ward for patients who have neurosurgical conditions such as subarachnoid haemorrhage, traumatic brain injuries, brain tumours and different bleeds on the brain. We take patients who have had injury to their brain and require further support. This could include tracheotomy care, EVD, ICP and lumbar drain management, nasogastric feeding and bowel management. We have a wide range of patients with differing impairments following their brain injury, from people at the end of their life to people looking to return to work and driving again. Patients following their time on B7 can either go home with no support required, go home with extra support in place, transferred back to their local hospital or transferred to a rehabilitation ward either within the trust or outside of the trust. On discharge, patients can be supported by community rehabilitation teams, district nurses and specialist nurses.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Health Care Assistant to join the team. You will be supported within the role with ongoing training which includes a Care Certificate Program and ward-based training related to the different types of conditions and injuries you will come across on the ward.
