Health and Safety Officer with previous experience of working within a similar H&S role and carrying out audits, who has excellent communication skills, and a customer-focused approach is required for a well-established housing association based in Evesham, Worcestershire.

SALARY: £36,750 per annum + Excellent Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Evesham, Worcestershire (WR11) - with travel to other offices, services, schemes, projects, housing or development locations as dictated by the role

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Health and Safety Officer with previous experience of working within a similar H&S role and carrying out audits, who has excellent communication skills, and a customer-focused approach.

Working as the Health and Safety Officer you will be responsible for advising managers and colleagues on all matters related to health and safety in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated legislation.

As the Health and Safety Officer you will proactively lead on the communication and awareness of health and safety policies, procedures and practices, ensuring they are followed across the organisation.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Health and Safety Officer will include:

  1. Advising managers and colleagues on all health and safety matters in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated legislation.
  2. Coordinating and updating health and safety records.
  3. Carrying out regular inspections and audits, and ensuring corrective actions are taken in response to identified risks.
  4. Working closely with managers to ensure risk assessments, safe systems of work, CDM and COSHH processes are in place.
  5. Managing key health and safety training, first aid provisions, and the distribution of PPE.
  6. Investigating and reporting on accidents and RIDDORs, working closely with the Human Resources and Facilities teams to ensure a safe working environment.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Willing to work towards a relevant Health and Safety qualification, such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
  2. Practical experience from a similar health and safety role.
  3. Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practices.
  4. Experience in carrying out audits and making appropriate and actionable recommendations.
  5. Able to create and review fit for purpose policies and procedures, ensuring compliance across the organisation.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  7. Customer-focused approach and the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
