Role Overview
An exciting and varied position has become available at Gwent Police, Health and Safety Department. We are looking for an individual to join our forward-thinking and expanding team of professionals as we drive towards Gold standard service in the Force. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and willing to help us drive the Department forward.
Some of your responsibilities as our Health & Safety Officer will include:
- Support the implementation and update of Gwent Police Health & Safety management system.
- Responsible for co-ordinating the risk assessments and accident investigations, ensuring that corrective actions identified are implemented and significant remedial risks highlighted to senior management.
- Acting as a system administrator for the Force E-Safety electronic information management system to ensure the accurate inputting, recording, reporting and analysis of reported accidents, near misses and other H&S data.
- Responsible for ensuring the provision, analysis and reports and H&S management information to meet senior management requirements.
- Support the development and delivery of designated training/briefing sessions.
- Responsible for the provision of advice (technical and procedural) on health and safety issues to the workforce.
- Responsible for ensuring that appropriate and accurate H&S information is published on The Beat and within business areas.
- Supporting effective Health & Safety inspections and audit programmes to meet legislation/Force policy, identifying potential hazards and recommending appropriate remedial action where necessary.
We Are Looking For
Education level and/or relevant experience(s)
- Minimum NEBOSH Certificate (NVQ Level 3), or equivalent.
- 12 months of relevant experience in the field.
